Burger King Star Wars Kids Meals

Am I the only one who thinks this is bad?  Kids meals for a movie that your 6 year old should not see?

i dont really see what was bad about it.. its no worse then stuff they have on TV daily

And a 6 year old shouldn't be watching that type of TV, either.  My kids do not.

I'm with you.  My kids got the toys and we explained to them they can't see it yet.  When they're older and we think they can handle it they can watch it.

There's just too much aweful dialog and bad acting for their age.  They need to see better movies.

Remember this is probably going to be the last Star Wars movies.... so they are cashing in. 

When I saw the movie, there was a 5 and 6 year old with there parents sitting in front of me.  I think the kids only saw half of the movie because they were hiding there faces during most of the movie.

When I saw it there were plaenty of kids there. Probably half the crowd. Clearly I can't speak for everyone, but I would have loved this movie when I was six.

I guess because of that I've never really understood why its not ok for a kid to watch a movie based on what letters are printed on the bottom of the poster.

It's not based on the letters.  It's based on my review of the content and my decision, as their father, that they will not be seeing this film until I, as their father, decide they are mature enough for the content.

same here, i mean really think back to when you were a kid. im sure you saw violent movies when you were you were young. This is all besides the fact, you know they can just watch it at a friends house whos parents are more lenient..

I went last night and was delighted that I couldn't see any younglings there. That's the beauty of going to see a movie on a school night!

Young kids should definetly not see this movie. Yeah, we all went to see the original trilogy when we were 6, but try to think of the most graphic scenes in the originals and compare that to what's in Episode III.

My father used to let me watch whatever the hell I wanted, horror movies, sexual movies, didn't matter to him.  Looking back, I really wish he hadn't.  There are a lot of things you just don't need to think about at 5 years old.

Speaking of Starwars and kids.  A friend and I have a theory as to why this last one was PG-13, and the others were PG.  People were cut up and killed in all the movies, but in this one a minor was killed, on screen.  Ever since Robocop 2 we believed a child being killed on screen is an automatic R.  Although Lucas may have had enough pull to bring that down to a PG-13.

I'm not sure if this is true, but it always seemed to be the case.

When the Senator (Leia's father) landed and was told it was time for him to leave.  The youngling Jedi attacked the troppers, was killed, and the senator got upset and left in his vehicle

That kid is definately a teenager. He is not like the 5 years olds that Anakin kills off screen.

Anyway, I took my 6 year old son to it and he loved it. There was nothing in it that he hasn't seen watching the Clone Wars on Cartoon Network.

I do agree that most PG-13 movies are too graphic for younger children, but Star Wars was an exception that had to be made.

i can see  and understand both sides of this argument, but in reality, thats the PG means, its up to the parents to decide if their younglings can see it or not. i went on the 1st day. i loved it (all writing and acting critiques aside) but at first i was thinking that i would not take my 4.5 year old to see it. but kids are so into all toys, games, cartoons, kinds books, etc (just like i was when the 1st one came out 1977) that im starting to thinnk he can prolly see it, but we are having some discussions about what is real and what is fake on tv and movies first for sure. he may wait to see it until the dvd comes out at xmas time, ive found that movie scenes that are intense on the big screen lose some of that on the tv.....

but we'll see. my son and all his other pre-school friend are obsessed with it, and some of his friends have went to see it already and they all loved it even if they did hide their eyes during some parts.....

i know i went at least 6 times to see the 1st star wars in 1977 and i was just turned 7 (which i know is a long stretch from 4.5)

When I saw it there were tons of kids in the room and whenever yoda was fighting they would erupt into roaring laughter.  The kids loved it.  Like when Yoda was laying there on the ground right after he started fighting Palpatine and then he jumped up and force pushed him across the room the kids went nuts.  And they loved him bouncing around with his light saber and when he threw the giant senator-holding-disc back at Palpatine.

But yeah....i agree with Chad on this.  A six year old shouldn't see this movie.  A ten year old, on the other hand is ready for it, I think.

Also, the Padawan killed on screen is only on screen for a couple seconds AND you might not even notice he is a kid unless you are looking for it.

Interesting point.  In the original Star Wars, Obi-Wan cuts off the arm of a guy in the cantina, and the bloody arm is shown on the floor.  In Ep. 3, an number of limbs are removed by lightsaber, but all the cuts are perfectly clean; no blood.

They've always been that way in the books.  Don't forget that the books extend the Star Wars concepts and universe exponentially.  The movies are only a tiny fraction of what exists in the Star Wars universe.

Some are, some aren't, one of the few I read occurred between Episodes 5 and 6.  I forget exactly what it was called but I thought it was Shawdows of the Empire (not sure tho dont hold me to any of this)

Erm, no, most of them are unrelated to and happen as far as 25 years after the last movie.  Some of them are before the movies, and some are in parallel.
