Problems With Mamewah Skins!
« on: May 20, 2005, 05:31:16 pm »
Hi All

I just love to ask questions, I am using the latest version of Mamewah and have set-up different skins for my emulators as well setting some different one's for mame (i.e. Adult games have another theme from my standard list).

I am having the following trouble when I go into the mamewah settings to select the platform etc I select sega genesis it then attempts to open that skin which it does but it is not complete (i.e. sections are missing both from the bottom and right hand side).

I can still use the list but it looks crap as it is not complete once I select a game and exit back to mamewah the skin is fine (back to normal).

Lastly I am having problems with the selecton box it seems as though mamewahs default box is over-riding the ones I have set-up in the layout folder (for example when using the Atari 2600 skin I have the main background image as well as the message box set-up but the message box is being blocked by the default box).

Hopefully this makes some sense and someone can point me in the right direction!

Thanks

Lea

As you can see i was fliping between the different emulators and some say bad image file is this the cause of my problem? If so how is it rectified the skins were downloaded from the screen shot archive!

Thanks

This happens often when things, the desktop and the skins, are running at different resolutions and or color depths. It's a syncing issue with the different  video modes and the monitor. It's always a good practice to set everything the same. Start off with windows. Lets say your running a 800x600 for conversation. Open the display properties and set your Windows desktop to 800 x 600 x 32. Now go to advanced display properties for your video card (depends on the card) and over-ride all the refresh rates and set EVERYONE of them to 60Hz. Now, all your layouts need to have a background image size of 800x600. Go into the layout designer and set the size to 800x600 AND the refresh rate to 60Hz AND the color depth to 32. That will solve your problems and also make for a smoother transition switching from layout to layout.

Enjoy,
John
