Which frontend?
« on: November 27, 2002, 01:03:32 pm »
I was wondering which frontend i should use.
I want one which is easy to set up with mame, with clear instructions. All the front ends i see are really complicated, or don't work and i don't know why.
I'm running windows XP. I also want it to be keyboard based. I don't want to have to set up lots of CFG files.

GameLauncher.  It's the best most configurable fe for Mame and any other commandline based emulator.  Perfect for arcade cabinets.

I tried that, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Too complicated.

If gamelauncher is too complicated for you then you are pretty much s.o.l.

The only fe that's simplier is arcade fx, but you mentioned that you wanted multiple emulators and it only supposrts mame.

I highly recommend you spend a little time to get Game Launcher working (it shouldn't be that hard).  Ask here if you can't figure something out and we'll help you or you can ask at http://www.mameworld.net/cgi-bin/wwwthreads/wwwthreads.pl?action=list&Board=mamewrldemuloader

Game Launcher is certainly one of the best FE's out there, you won't be disappointed once you have it working.  I use it to frontend 6 different emulators and it works well.
What would happen if the whole world farted at the same time?

I got MameWah and that's fine for my needs.
