Moon Patrol Restoration - Opinion
« on: March 31, 2005, 03:52:56 pm »
I am just starting a Missile Command restoration and I'm about to order parts for it, and I figure I should order the couple of parts I need for the Moon Patrol at the same time.

My question is this.  Should I go with the original style black leather t-molding on the Moon Patrol, or would it look good with light blue T-molding?

I kinda think the light blue would look nice.  But it wouldn't be original, so it might be $10 wasted if I end up selling it (I know, big deal on the $10...)

Opinions?

Wade

Here is a picture of someone else's Moon Patrol for reference:

OMG!!! Wade has come to my house and BLATANTLY STOLEN my Moon Patrol!! Shame on you Wade ;) :P

Seriously, I did like 3 doubletakes at that picture, before deciding that the background looked a little too familiar.

As far as T-mold. Have them send you a sample piece first. One of the 2 suppliers will do this free, and you could make sure that it would not clash before making the commitment. Worst case on re-sale is that you blow $10 off the price so the buyer can get his own molding. (I personally think anything other than black leather is sacrilege, but to each his own :P)

Well, I do have a sample and I think the blue looks pretty good.  It doesn't match the sides that well, but I think it would give the game some "punch" from the front.

However, since the vote is unanimous... I'll go with standard black leather. ;)  I'm planning to order that and a bunch of other parts together this afternoon.

Thanks for the votes! :)

my two cents is late, but here goes:

PERSONALLY, I am all about authenticity when it comes to restorations. My Galaga for example will get the black leather style.

But, IF, and I say IF I were to go for something different that really compliments the overall cab, I would consider WHITE (it would really accent the outline of the cab) or a yellow that matches the yellow in the side-art. (Again, it would accent the outline of the cab, but stay within the existing color scheme).

Blue, I find would just blend in would your sides. (But then black blends in with the front, so... maybe that's not a bad thing).

NO MORE!!
