Coin Controls - Coin Mechs - Installation

<< < (2/7) > >>

Thenasty:
from that pic, looks like the coin mechs are missing. Look slike a Coin Controls/happs over and under standard coin door, so if you have any mechs you can hack it to this.....

Ken Layton:
No No No! That's an old style Coin Controls door. Only Coin Controls coin mechs will work properly in those. The entry trough has an area that will let quarters occasionaly slip out and fall past the coin mech altogether. A Coin Controls coin mech has an extended part of the coin gate assembly to make allowance for this and keep coins from falling past/jamming/screwing up. Either the metal or plastic Coin Controls coin mechs will work properly in this door.

If this were the late style (say 1996 and newer with the quick latch bracket) Coin Controls or any other brand of coin door then yes you could use any coin mech.

DreamWeb:
Does this mean I need a new coin door??  Coin Controls mechs seem tougher to come by.

Ken Layton:
If you just want to use any old mech then get another brand of door. At one time Coin Controls made a retrofit kit to convert this door to the new style (silver) entry troughs/quick release bracket. Since Coin Controls no longer make coin doors nor coin mechs you're screwed.

DreamWeb:
Well.. that certainly does suck.

Just to confirm that these are Coin Controls doors..  Here is a (rather poor) shot of the front of the door.

Sorry it's not more of a close-up.

Let me know, please.

Thanks, guys.
