Is is possible to have a thread on this board without bringing him up? If it's not, I'll happily contribute.
b3atmania:
- Network support for games that supported linkup of multiple machines in the arcade, such as Suzuka 8 Hours, OutRunners, Virtua Striker, etc. Not talking about that Kaleira-crap either. Just network the games that had a linkup mode in the arcade.
- In addition to or instead of a network mode allow multiple instances of MAME to run on a single system. Coupled with muli-head output you could emulate a linked system.
- Support for cocktail-mode in all games that miss them at the moment.
- Support for multiple physical monitors instead of rendering both screens to the same display. This would allow for accurate setups of Darius, Nintendo VS and Sega MegaTech.
- Support for control-method plugins. Currently things like rotary joysticks are mapped to joystick + dial. This is stupid as it only facilitates keyboard usage and makes hooking up a real LS-30 impossible without extra hardware. The plugins themselves are hardware dependant and should be seperate from the MAME core. This means you could have joystick plugin for a standard US/AT keyboard, but also for Asian keyboard layouts, multiple mice, multiple steering wheel, etc.
- Support for switching resolutions in-game. This is needed for proper emulation of ST-V and System 11/12 based games. Currently every driver is locked to a single resolution.
- Support for tweaked modes. MAME should default to output video with the same Hsync and Vsync timings the original games had and not default to VGA output as it is not accurate.
- Introduction of a warning that reads: "This game is being displayed inaccurate. This game requires a 15kHz display mode". This will alert clueless Windows and TV-out users to the fact they are not viewing the action in a way the orginal was. This same applies to users who lock the refresh rate to 60Hz.

I wish they would fix the racing games.

Maybe not entirely off-topic, given the nature of Mr.Foley's actions, but for some reason Peale, out of the corner of my eye, your avatar looks like a lollipop is being stuck in a llama's butthole?!

Hmmm, how about removal of idiot messages about cocktail modes in DRIVING games and other games that never had a cocktail mode in the first place (cough, Sega Turbo, cough).
Do the dip switches work in Star Wars or Empire yet?
I would also support the removal of all bootleg games, If Mame isn't about piracy then WHY are the bootleg games supported? There is no way to own a legal copy of a bootleg game.
I would also like to see Pac-Man as the parent and Puckman as the clone. It is not relevant that Puckman came first, in all other games the final revision of the game is considered the parent and the earlier revisions are clones.
Not in Mame's current scope, but I would really like to see NES, SNES, Genesis, and Master System support in MAME itself. It is capable of it (emulates offshoots of all those platforms perfectly). Mess is a freaking MESS, I want this stuff in MAME, no other emulator is as good and useable as mame, I see no reason why console functionality can't be added.
