Really need help with my artwork & ideas.
« on: March 16, 2005, 05:32:34 am »
My artwork dramas continue. My cab theme is 3 months in the making with nothing to show.

I just struggle to get my ideas into something I can look at. So I am asking for help. I am not after somebody to do my artwork, but if anybody wants to put their hand up and maybe throw some creative yet simple pics together I would be grateful. I am using/learning Illustrator 11 and I am looking to work from base ideas. Again, I want to do the artwork myself I just need a kick start.

I am seeking a Ducati/Arcade theme that is fun (not serious) to complement a 4 player cab. I am not looking for a motorbike theme but more subtle hints to the Ducati logo (as seen in my sig), that will blend with other arcade references.

I wish to spread the theme across sideart, marquee and control panel. (Although I am planning on the control panel graphics being plain and not noisy.)

The pic below is only an indication of the type of ideas I am seeking. I tried building turrets to attach to the top of the Ducati's but just couldn't pull it off. I like the idea of turning the Ducati

Unless you are in love with SpaceAce or are rebuilding the cab for a single game I would suggest using a generic arcade type design for your CPO such as motofish did. You can still personalize it but it is still something that can fit all games. Here is an example from tomvanhorn's site, click "Hire Me" then scroll down and look at the purple one...

I am not hooked on the Space Ace theme it was just a pic I stole to show a subtle Ducati theme similar to what I am seeking. I also tried it with Qbert.....

I am going to return to Illustrator and go back to my "gun turret" idea on top of the Ducati disc, I have tried to make it work before but failed. It's not surprising I am having troubles as I have never been able to draw for crap.

I have checked out that link before but thanks for taking time to post it.

Thanks also for the Pac-Man suggestion Cooter but it this instance I will keep searching.
