I have a chance to pick up one of these 27" monitors real cheap, but info on them seems alittle hard to find via google   I know it uses a vga to BNC cable to hook up to the computer, and it can display 640x480, but that's about all i know...Has anyone used one of these for mame? Or Maybe Ken has some specs for this laying around?

Never heard of it. It's possible that this could be one of the Sony monitors that Sharp Image sells (www.sharpimage.net). It would be a good idea to contact Sharp Image to see if they have more information.

thx ken, i sent them an email...I do know that these sony monitors were used alot for stuff like displays at airports, and presentations. from what i gather they're 31khz vga with a max res of 640x480...anyway, i grabbed one for $50, picking it up on monday...it should just fit in my cab and replace the 21" svga monitor i have in there now, and if it's 640x480 it should be perfect for mame and some pc games.

Hey there, just wanted to let people know.. I went to pick up the 27" sony presentation monitor, got it home, and it was dead.. but the guy i bought it from had another one.  So i went back today, tested that one, and a 29" sony pgm-2950...I decided to go with the 29".

 If you happen to find one of these, i highly recomend it.  It hooks right up to pc with a vga-to-BNC cable, and the picture at 640x480 is crystal clear, text looks great, and mame looks quite good on this fairly lo res vga monitor.

Max res is 640x480, but i tried vector games and they look good to me

When removed from the case, it will fit in a Lusid style cabinet (with an inch or 2 to spare)

How heavy was that monitor?  I just got a similar style monitor and it weighs a TON.  well 266lbs.

120 pounds before i removed most of the casing
 alittle less now since part of the casing had metal grab bars running around the chassis.
