arcade monitor dim until i punch cab
« on: February 11, 2005, 10:07:47 am »
okay so i moved my machine around the room yesterday and when turned on the monitor was really dim. so i guess i think i'm the fonz or something and hit the side of the cab not too hard and voila, it's all back fine. i know cap kits are always recommended first to correct most problems but is it possible for me to have a loose connection or something else possibly? and it's a neo-mvs system and not a pc inside in case that helps. thanks.

Yes, it's possible to have a bad solder joint on the monitor chassis, but it's also likely a bad capacitor could be doing it as well or a combination of both bad caps and bad solder.

It's also possible to have dirty edge connector contacts on the game cartridge itself and/or the gameboard.

thought i had replied already, but guess not. thanks for the ideas Ken. i'll try cleaning the cartridge connectors first. there is something up with the board as the first (of two slots) doesn't work so cleaning is an easiest first step and may even fix the other slot. and thanks qb, i finally have an avatar ;)
