Why PS2 has 2 memory card slots but...

OK can anyone here shed some light as to why the PS2 has 2 memory card slots, but then games only check slot 1???

I've reached the point where I've filled up one card and I have a 2nd going. But sometimes I have to switch which card is in the P1 slot depending on what game I'm playing. Talk about annoying. There ARE two slots after all!

The three vitues of a good programmer are Laziness, Impatience, and Hubris.  Which means they're too lazy to write the code to check slot 2, too impatient to wait for the program to scan both slots, and they suffer from the hubris to think their game is the only one you'll play.

But yeah, that drives me nuts as well.

The only time I've had this issue is with my EA BIO. 

My EA BIO will be in Slot2, but I have to move it to Slot1 in order for it to be saved.

Drives me nuts that most games only check one slot too, but it's nice to  have that other slot when you want to copy a save from one card to another. Doesn't come up often, but it's still nice to be able to do that.

I usually keep the main card in slot 2 for use with the DVD remote...  I only switch it out when I wanna play something and the wife's not playing Ratchet & Clank or Jak & Daxter....
