Act Labs S-Video Light Gun Problem/Question

I have a Act Labs TV Light Gun that I have working fine.  However, the way the end is made it sticks out too far from the back of my PC.  I bought a S-video extension cable that is male on one end and female on the other.  I plugged the extension cable into the PC and then the light gun and TV cable into the other end of the extension cable.  I thought this should work just fine, but when I power up I get a white screen stuck that will not boot up. 

Can someone tell me why the extension cable will not work correctly?  I hope I have explained it well enough
