Getting rid of on screen bezels?
« on: January 23, 2005, 09:00:05 pm »
Some of my mame games have on screen bezels, like galaga and ms pacman, making the actual game pretty small, is there a way to make these disapppear and just have the actual game onscreen?

Check your mame.ini file.

Under ### Mame CORE misc options ###

Set use_bezels              0

I use mame32 - with it you could also go into OPTIONS -> DEFAULT GAME OPTIONS -> and select the miscellaneous tab.  There is a checkbox for bezels there.

I always have my settings like this in mame.ini...

artwork                 1
use_backdrops           1
use_overlays            1
use_bezels              0
artwork_crop            1
artwork_resolution      0

It seems to work really well for me.  However, I don't have light guns so I can't tell you if will solve your problem or not.

I think it's important to use "artwork_crop" because the artwork can resize the screen (like bezels do) without this setting turned on.

also, if you just be sure to NOT have the bezel artwork in that folder to begin with, then they won't be there.

Yeah, but then you have to go digging through the artwork zip files looking for all the bezels and removing them.  It's easier to just turn them off in mame.ini
