Why was it crap?  Because of the O/S limitations?  The legacy game port?  Didn't work?  Why?

One reason was that it needed to be calibrated every time it was used. The newer ACT LABS guns 'USB' (also discontinued, but much better) basically only needed to be recalibrated when resolutions were changed. The USB version was an ugly silver phase pistol looking thing (dorky Enterprise referrence), The SGA had the same style, but in a weird gold like color which looked a little goofier than the silver. Basically performance was ok, but just didn't seem as reliable as the USB version or the BIO gun I had purchased from LikSang. The use of the game port might even prove to be a bigger problem than the performance and asthetics however since you really don't see the gameport on soundcards or on motherboards for the last couple of years.
