An addiction too far.
« on: January 26, 2005, 07:05:14 pm »
I reckon I need some help. Seriously I think this time I have gone too far with my hobby. (The last one involved buying 1000+ books in the space of about 18months)

I've just spent 2 hours browsing eBay for a skt462 processor (to complete another PC) when I suddenly worked out I had the following fully working computers in the house which are all doing something:-

Athlon XP2400+ - Main Rig
Duron 1800  - Upright mame/sitdown cab
Celeron 1ghz - Media Centre
Celeron 700 - Going into a portable mame
PII 233mhz - Desktop Mame

My collection of components in the cupboard is staggering as well:-
5 CD/DVD Drives, 5 Graphics Cards, 2 Modems, 2 Sound Cards ,1 Motherboard, A Monitor, 3 Keyboards, 11 Trackballs (yes 11), 4 Mice of various types, 4 Old CPUS, 30+ strips or ram, Dozens of fans, lights, heatsinks etc, 3 PSU's, umpteen other useless components such webcams, speakers etc etc  and if there was a 12 player game in Mame i would have enough controllers to play it.

Oh and one last thing before the men in white coats collect me, I didn't even own a computer until November 2003.

Right back to eBay for that processor. :)

I reckon I need some help.

I can identify with that... LINK  ::)

I find it funny that you posted this the day after I got my "junk list" together so I can reconfigure all my systems.

Well at least I'm not alone! Perhaps we need to set up some sort of support group, either that or just get out more often.

BAH!

7 15" monitors
1 90 mhz
2 133 mhz
2 166 mhz
1 233 mhz
3 266 mhz
1 450 mhz
1 900 mhz
2 scanners (one working, yet oddly, the non-working one is the one connected to the PC  :-[ )
1 internal zip drive - several disks, none of which work
1 external 4x iomega CD burner - still works (I keep it around "just in case"....I have too much time  ::) )
several dozen ram sticks, some even for the computers I have  :-\
gajillions of HD's
4 inkjets, 2 of which work
1 laser printer that has to be fed one sheet at a time (but is STILL faster than those damn inkjets
several HUNDREDfloppy disks, to go with 6 non-working floppy drives
NAME a friggen cable you need and I'll give you three and not make a dent in the collection

and my pride and joy of the entire collection that is the Karee masterpiece:
