1.  Finish 3 jukeboxes that I've been "working on" since June.  (actually about 8 hours of honest work done on them in all that time)

2.  Read Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" all the way through, rather than reading it up to the part about quantum mechanics and then stopping because I can't get my mind wrapped around it.  I ordered the illustrated and updated version.  Perhaps the pretty pictures will help me through.   ;D

3.  Launch the pocket rocket into the thigh sky.  It's been awhile.

I already quit smoking and paid off all my debt this year. So onto next year.

1. Turn 23. I am currently 27, but I plan on turning 23 at my next birthday, as I have too much to accomplish before 30 at my current age!

2. Regular diet and exercise as opposed to the randomness I engage in now.

3. Slim down the arcade collection to a more manageable size.

4. Sell ALL my unused and excess possessions.

5. Have enough money by years end to buy a mobile home in order to begin the next phase of the long term plan (which will be complete by the time I turn 30, and when I say 30 I mean 35).

1) Attempt to wipe out debt

2) try to be the breadwinner in our home (currently my wife, I'm a stay at home dad, and she wants to stay home with the new baby)

3) I've got FIVE cab projects.  I'd like to finish - at minimum - one of them.

4) Keep up in contact with my friends and family.

5) learn to speak Esperanto
6) learn to play "Pictures at an Exhibition"
7) play tennis more than once
8. improve my bridge game
9) not yell at my kids so much (that's the toughest one)

1. Begin smoking, all the cool kids are doing it.  I've noticed that smokers get more breaks at work.  I could use an extra 10- 15 minutes a day to stand around in the bitter cold and talk about sports and how cold it is.
2. Eat more.  I haven't made my goal weight of 300lbs.  That will be cool, I must be the FATBASTA!
3. Get a hair cut.  I haven't decided which one yet, but by the end of the year one of those sucker will be a little shorter.  Maybe a nosehair???
4. Be a worse parent.  I'm already a pretty good father, so that's out.  But I would love to be walking down the road and hear someone say" There goes one bad mother!".
5. Build a cocktail. Just because... I know that's not a real answer, but your not my real dad!

1. Quit smoking... again. (man this sucks)
2. Finish the House Remodel
3. Finish my Jukebox
4. Finish my Bar in the basement (90% done)
5. Get my wife a better job so I can be a stay at home husband, cause I don't really like working all that much. (I think we should still get summers off)

and that's it. and about 2 or 3 of them will happen, unfortunately 5 is not one of them.

I am seriously considering trying for a career path as high school shop teacher in order to build things, get the summer off, and be able to teach WITHOUT having to take any of it home with me.

Finish my cocktail cab which should have been finished 4 years ago.

Lose 15-20 kilos.

Think about quitting smoking again. Seems to be a lot of smokers here.

1. Finish cab (it'll never actually be finished)
2. Learn to play harmonica (better)
3. Fix my computers (I hate you, windows)
4. Send angry letters to SBC and Roadrunner in order to convince them to provide my area with high-speed internet
5. Purchase a pirate ship called "The Jolly Jose" and make a living selling pirated DVD's off the coast of Mexico.  I'm an idiot.

I thought to myself, "Man, who posted the Billy Squier photo?"

 ;D  ;)

1.  Eat healthier.  Haven't been to the doctor to see what the Cholesterol # is, I'm afraid to.  And if 50 lbs. comes off with this one, so much the better.

2.  Get a new job.  Tired of having you people yell at me just because you were stupid and smashed up your car.  You will get the payment for the market value of your vehicle...eventually.  GET OFF OF MY BACK!

3.  Find something current that interests me.  Seems that all of my free time is spent here, Allmusic.com looking up 70's & 80's bands and old-computers.com.  Not that I don't love this site, but I can't be this old and crotchety at age 32, can I?

Start by chopping off at least one finger.  Every shop teacher I had was missing at least part of one finger(s).  :o

Get back down to 200lb

Get my bench and deadlift back to 300 and 450, respectively.
LOL, that's my plan too.

I worked out in college and I was 180lb and I benched 250, I wanted so badly to be 200lb and benching 300.

After 6 years of working at a desk I now need to lose 20lbs to get down to 200.

well, i've only just started. i'm HOPING your talking POUNDS and TOTAL weight? next week i'm moving up to 20kg a side so that's about 90 pnds total...

Yep, lbs.  You'll find that you're going to make some very rapid progress in the beginning.  This is basically because of the way muscles work.  They work by recruiting adjacent muscle fibres as the load increases... but an untrained individual's muscles are simply not good at that recruitment.  As your muscles become more efficient recruiters you will make some rapid progress... then, they will get as good at that as they need to be, and your progress will slow down to a more reasonable rate.

This is, of course, assuming it's all being done drug free.

#1, stop giving them to the women you meet.  That's NOT the drug you should be using to try to bed them.

#2, Barry Bonds said stop calling him.  He doesn't do THOSE detectable types of steroids

#3, STOP telling guys if you inject them "there", it'll grow THAT "muscle" as large as a horse's

#4, throw them out into the mail, I'm running low after injecting them "there"

p.s. they work as advertised, although in my case, the improvement hasn't been as radical as others claim....must be something about "not as far to go as you guys"  ;)

danny, any luck on those donkey steroids?  I'm really hoping so.  For the new year, I'd like to become a bigger --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules--....that is how you got to the level you're at, right?  ;)  ;D

Danny, boy, I have good news for you.  If you're working out at a gym, the bar -- without any plates added -- probably weighs 45 lbs..  So there's another 20 kg for ya.  That would bring you up to a much more respectable 130-135 lbs.

Hey Chad, what does "TG" stand for anyhow?  That was the only part I didn't understand in that.

Mission, half is better than not at all.  I have two bro-in-law's trying to quit chewing, which thus far they've made it farther than LAST year's attempte.  I was just over at a friend's house whose family is like my own, and his aunt had SO many complications from smoking that she's got to be on oxygen for the rest of her life, 24/7.  I didn't smoke for long (only about 1 1/2-2 years) so it wasn't that hard for me to give it up, but I still sympathize with ya.  Good luck.

true, im skinny and its hard to eat more. but whats harder is to eat WELL. now im looking at whats in what i eat more and its amazing how much fat and sugar is in stuff. ive cut down drinking bottles of pepsi from maybe 6 a week to one a week. THATS a big change just there! using weight gaining formula is good too since its about 50% protein and almost no fat.

you're both right though. i have seen a bit of a difference already, and i FEEL better for it. but it will be harder to keep going. if i was fat then the results might be more encouraging since as the fat content reduces, muscle SHOWS more. and toned to boot!

anyway, this time around (did a bit of gym work in my early 20s) i feel more motivated and i wont stop until... well, theres no stopping really is there?

Update:  Have submitted my first TG score, which is a world record.

Have come in two slots on my belt, but only lost one pound.  Getting down to 200 is going to be by far the hardest part of all this.

Just remember, muscle weighs more than fat.  I know you know that, but people have a tendency to look at the number, and not the results.  Two notches on your belt is awesome!

It's a true statement.  I have started training for a sprint triathlon in the fall.  The swimming is what's really bringing the muscles back, since I haven't restarted lifting yet.  I will concede that part of the belt notch thing is that I stopped drinking, though.  I honestly don't care what I weigh, really, so long as I can get my bodyfat down to around 10%.  I've been really strong, I've been really lean... I've never been both.

Today I'm a third notch in on my belt for the first time in a long time.  Annoyingly, I am now +1lb from my starting bodyweight.

Again, you're paying attention to your numbers, but not the results!  In three belt notches, that's awesome!  The weight just means whatever you're doing is working the way it *should*.

Oh, I'm totally with you on that and am not THAT annoyed by it... I have been focusing exclusively on conditioning to this point.  I had figured that would mostly cause bodyfat loss, at least more than -1lb of loss.  Once I start lifting again I'm probably going to end up putting about 8-10lb back on.  Getting down to 200 probably isn't going to happen with the way things are turning out, at least not this year if I want to hit the strength goals.  I kind of figured at 12-14% bodyfat I'd be just below 200lb.  That may have been too low a figure, we'll see.

Okay, no one has updated this in a few months, so here is an update.  I'm down to 214, so while I'm not speeding to 200lb, I'm nearly halfway there.

No new scores submitted but my Clockwork Knight score is now the official TwinGalaxies world record for the game.   :D

I'm just about to start real training again.  I may not reach the strength goals, especially for the squat, but I should be able to make it fairly close.

Thanks for bringing this back up.  I forgot I had actual numbers in my resolution.  I'm benching over 250, and last week I increase my curl, so now I'm curling the same weight I use to bench.  That means my arms are as strong as my chest was over a year ago.

I'm still over 200 pounds, but I look good at the beach.
Looks are more important than numbers.

...unless the number is 300, which is still my end of the year benching goal.

You do realize that biceps don't really equate to raw strength, right?  That once your biceps reach a certain point they are actually counterproductive and mostly a basic injury risk?  Once biceps get large enough all they are doing is reducing flexibility and range of motion in your arm.  True arm strength lies in your triceps and forearms.

How about being able to lift things off the floor without tearing your bicep off the bone?  Hit a baseball?  Hug a person?

There's a reason few pro athletes bother with giant biceps, even the ones who have giant legs and lats.

I must have the strongest right arm in existence!  For some reason, it's freakishly larger than the left one! ;)
