This frontend looks great and has a lot of promise if features continue to be added.  So far, great job!  Right now I am bouncing between EmuWizard, Lazarus and this one, in the end, I'll likely use whichever works the best with all the emus I want.  Thanks to Howard's Lazarus plugins, a lot of other emulators can be used with wrappers, so keep in mind, you may not need to focus so much on the Zinc support, check Howard's wrappers and see how you can integrate them into your frontend.

Thanks alot :)

Yeah, you're right about Howards wrappers.  I had added specific ZiNc support (before Howards wrappers were available) so I could play ZiNc through my FE :)

I could not get the generic commandline wrapper to work very well under Windows '98.  Now I use XP, I should be able to use them, and add support to my FE (next release?...)

Cheers

The wrappers work just as well under 98 as they do xp, so it must have been a timing/configuration issue. :)

OK, any idea if it works for Gens?  I just couldn't get it to work before.

Oh, I mean the exit key thing didn't work, I could get it to launch the emulator/game just fine :)

Old school dos programs and dos ports won't exit properly.  If you have a solution to this then let me know... btw zinc did have problems exiting but since i updated the wrapper it does fine.

Minwah, I have been using your previous release now for several months and it's worked great!  I just downloaded your upgrade and like an idiot, I first deleted the old version.

Now I have the new version installed and it doesn't work.  It loads up fine but it will not find my games list even though they are in the default c:/Mame/roms

I also notice that you won't allow anybody to edit the path for the MAME subfolders.  I am not sure what the problem is.  Did you test this on Win98 or XP?  I am running 98 on my cabinet.

You're not the idiot, I am, I instructed you to delete the old version on my site  :-[ Sorry.

Firstly, did you specify your MAME.EXE path?  MAMEWAH used to assume 'C:\MAME\MAME.EXE' in previous versions.  This version you have to state that to begin with.  Also, do you have a MAME.INI file ?, this is where MAMEWAH gets the rom/snap directories from - I presume you do since it worked OK before.

I did the final testing on XP.  But everything (AFAIK) definately worked on '98 too, I tested it before I went over to XP.  Just note that when refreshing the games list, it takes a while longer than before (in Win98).  I don't think this is too much of a problem, since you don't need to refresh the list very often, and it isn't a huge delay either.  It is just a downside of storing lots more info about each game.  Please tell me if you think it is bad...

Let me know how you get on, I can add the previous version for download if neccessary.

I did put in a path of c:/MAME/MAME.EXE  which is correct, except that win98 doesn't allow all caps like that so technically it's c:/Mame/Mame.exe   (I do not know if this makes a difference to MAMEWah or not)

I do have a mame.ini file, and the old minwah worked perfectly.  Do I need to make changes to the mame.ini file?

The load time is a non-issue.  I don't care how long it takes and you are right, it only happens a few times.

I will go back to your old version if I must but I would prefer to keep up to date.

I think you've just answered it  :)

You've got the wrong 'slashes'.  Replace those /'s with \'s and it should work fine.  I just tried mine with /'s and it allowed it to be entered, but didn't work properly.  Capitals won't matter btw.

Leave mame.ini alone, it will be just fine :)

Let me know if it works...

I went and verified the /'s, I did use the correct ones at home so that isn't the problem.  I gave up fiddling with it and reinstalled the old version and it works great so no worries.  It would have been swell to be able to change font and background colors but I can definitely get along without it.

How about installing the new version again (in a different directory), and try it again?  Send me an email and we'll go through and get it to work.  In the meantime I'll do some trials on a Win98 machine, just to make sure.  You can use the old version until we get the new one working properly.

Sorry it's given you so much hassle :(

I will try this tomorrow night, and see what happens.  It's no hassle, if I didn't want your upgraded software that you created, I wouldn't have tried.  I appreciate all your work and I am proud to display your work on my cabinet to everybody who sees it.
