for now I'm gonna call my cabinet Mamoushi (combo of MAME/Seoushi)... not sure if I will keep it, its sorta chessy. But I've started on cabinet and here is a webpage I threw together to show my first days progress..

http://www.seoushi.com/~mamoushi/index.htm (page might be slow as its hosted on my cable modem).

So far I've spend about 250 or so dollars on materials, power tools and joy/buttons. Not too bad I think. This will be my first cabinet and hopefully it will turn out well. I think the sides look nice at least :)

Did you free-hand all of your cuts with your jigsaw? Or did you use a guide

Looking good so far!

The last picture, is that your marquee light fixture?  If so, you might wanna rethink it - the bulb seems kinda dim  ;)

Excellent work thus far.  Don't mind me, keep posting pics for everybody else  ;D

Uploaded day 2 pictures. I got it standing up right and I also got a shelf in the middle now but I'll take pictures of that tommarrow. I have a lot of gaps between sides but I figure I'd just putty it all up and sand it smooth. I also made a top piece and took apart some computer speakers and figure out its all nice and module. Also I can mount the sound controls anywhere I want (volume, treble and bass). Hopefully I can work on this tommarrow but I gotta do some school work :)

Seoushi is just the screen name I've used for about 4 years or so.

More progress  and pictures updated. I finished the construction of the cabinet (besides the monitor bezel). now I just need to put together the CP box. Then I'm gonna go through and put putty in every crack then sand everything down nice and smooth. After that I'm gonna paint it. So its possible I'll have everything but wiring done by the end of the weekend. Now I need to start working on my artwork and setting up a computer for Mame. Just seeing the control panel in person makes me excited on how it will look and feel.

Hate to double post but my daily update is due :).   I made the assembled the control panel box and have made the holes to mount on the cabinet.  Along with everything being spackeled up, I also have everything sanded nice and smooth (all corners are nicely rounded but its hard to tell in the pictures).

I'm thinking this is turning out better than expected. All I have left in the construction process is to paint it and add the clips so the control panel lid stays on tight. then it's wiring/computer time. Oh and I also made a mock-up marquee (its on the bottom of the pictures).

Any feedback on the artwork? Me and my friends think it looks pretty cool but I'd like a few more outside opinions.

edit: I've updated my webpage so it's not so crappy
