ROM questions???
« on: May 18, 2004, 01:07:11 pm »
Hi, I'm kind of new at this so I'm in need of some help.

I had a few questions that I hoped someone could answer for me.

1.) When I go to play a hard drive image like Carnevil or NFL Blitz the games run VERY slow and VERY choppy. What are some steps I can take to remedy this. I believe my PC runs on 512 mb ram and I have a Ge Force 2 graphics card.

2.) When I go to start a game like Cruisn' USA it asks for me to calibrate the steering. Is there a way to get around this using a controller? Also, when I try to play Carnevil the aim is VERY off with the mouse. How can I change this?

3.) Lastly, when I go to play games like Area 51 and Maximum Force MAME says the Roms are 'not found' even though the HD images are present in the roms folder, do I need to download a parent Rom or something?

Thanks a bunch in advance to anyone who answers these for me.

Carnival 'gun' calibration
« Reply #1 on: November 29, 2004, 03:30:21 am »
It took some trial-and-error, but I did it! Here's what I did:

Run MAME32.
Select Carnival. Right-Click to Properties/Controller and Uncheck Joystick control
and Check Mouse control.
Left click and start the game.
At the "CARNIVAL V1.0.1" screen, press F2 for Diagnostic Screen, then wait for Diagnostic Menu.
Using - and = for up/down, highlight GUN CALIBRATION. Then Press F2
Using your mouse, follow directions to Calibrate Left Gun.
Then it will want to Calibrate Right Gun. Press the A key three times.
It will go back to the Diagnostic Menu. Press = down to EXIT, then press 9.

Now Carnevil will shoot properly!

Remember, LEFT ALT key is the RELOAD key!!

That is because your computer isn't fast enough to run those games. Sorry.
