General ROM question - trying to get some games to work

Hi all;

Ive just got a question about a few games I have roms for - I got a full set from the rom burners (god bless 'em!).

Most of the games work fine. But a few wont even load. Im wondering why exactally. When MAME tries to launch them, the screen goes black & looks like it's going to load, then it just exits. An example is Nostradamus or Nightwarrors: Darkstar.

Im using the latest version of MAME, Kymaera as my front end, Win 2K for my OS. System specs are:

PIII 850 Mhz, 64 mb Nvidia MX 420, 40 Gb HDD and 256 MB RAM.

Has anyone got any answers? Thanks in advance . . .
