Should I expand my cabinet to accomadate a 27" TV?

Assuming I can't find a 25" TV with S-Video in I'm going to get a 27" TV. Now I know that a standard Midway-style (like MK3) cabinet will fit a 27" monitor but what about TV?
Should I expand it width wise by like 2"? How about 2" deeper or is that necessary?

I've heard happs 27" Bezel comes extra large so you can trim it yourself, is this true? how hard is it to trim?

Also a side question, when making my PC for a mame cab should I go with 512MB or is 256MB enough to run most games like Mortal Kombat and marvel vs capcom with fullspeed with sound?

Thanks

Crazy Cooter:
Measure the TV before building the cab.  That way you know it will fit.
I've never used a Happs' bezel.
256 will run both of those at full speed.  I think I've seen them on 128.

I have a 25" tv in mine and it's pretty damn big :o You might want to check if it will make it in and out the door if you had to i almost had a game stuck in the laundry room :'(

dreamcastninja:
i have a 2.4 ghz celeron (overkill)
512 mb ddr ram

i've ran everything except the mortalk kombats, nba jam, stuff like that digitized graphics full speed when i had 256 in a 733mhz

so you'll be fine

25" TV's seem to be out of production for the most part, making them very hard to find. When I was looking for a TV a couple months ago, all I could find were 27" ones, and oddly enough, most of the 27" TV's were smaller in size than the 25" ones AND they were cheaper. Therefore there was no reason for me to get a 25". So as stated before, just measure everything out before you buy. On a side note, when you go looking for TV's, you might want to unplug a few while powered on to see if they automatically power back on when you plug them back in. This will be an option you will probably want to have for the finished cab so that the TV will power on automatically when you turn the cab on. Good luck.
