Mamewah question re game list settings
« on: November 10, 2004, 05:58:19 pm »
Ok so I have had Mamewah installed for a long time but have just updated my Roms and mame version to 0.86b, I didn't update Mamewah. Now I can only get Mamewah to list games via Rom name. I have been in to the game list settings and selected "rom folder vs listinfo M.A.M.E." but this does no good ( I also tried every other setting but still nothing ).
Any ideas?

The old version of MAMEWAH doesn't work smoothly with the new version of MAME. If you're upgrading to a version of MAME .84+, I recommend you upgrade to MAMEWAH 1.52 as well.

If that's not an option for you, you have to manually create your MAME DAT file by running
Code: [Select]
mame -listxml|xml2info>mame.dat in your MAME directory, then tell MAMEWAH that your MAME DAT file is in <your mame directory>\mame.dat, then finally set your game list settings to Dat file vs rom folder.

Just so you're aware, this isn't so much a problem with MAMEWAH but a byproduct of the MAME devs taking away a command-line switch that the frontend (and all other front ends) depended on. Once they did that all the FE devs needed to scramble and update their frontends.

Good luck in your upgrade.  If you have any questions feel free to search (then ask!) :)
