need emuator configuring help...
« on: November 07, 2004, 08:56:02 pm »
well guys, i've got all the software i need installed, but i've run into some problems...

my hope is to run all my emulators under mamewah, but so far, mamewah is even giving me trouble.

i have searched the specific faqs for these answers, but i guess i'm just too dumb, because they don't have stupid questions like mine included in the faq.

my first question is about project 64.  the audio, and video plugins supposively don't work even though i downloaded them.  as of yet, i've got an arcade vga and on board audio from my motherboard.  ny ideas on how to solve this one?

in daphne, it says i need to tell it which laser disk reader i'm using...ho do i do that?

as for zsnes, i can't even get it to start up...any ideas?

virtuanes just tells me that cdirectsound:idirectsound failed to initialize...

i know i should try to solve my problems, but i've been working on this whole setup for almost 2 days straight and hve gotten nowhere.  at least mame and gens work for me alright, but i'm not sure that i'm keeping gens.

by the way, does anyone know of any emulators for console systems that run ,like mame, without the option menu at the top, like a real console would?  oh, and it also needs to run command line and either use mame contorls, or be configurable.  thanks everyone for the help, hopefully i can ge this machine up and running before the new year...

The screenshot archive has a list of frontend friendly emulators available for download.

that is where i got the emulators i have, but they still aren't very usable in a cabinet...i guess i'm really interested in having an emulator without the menu at the top.  but of course, i still need it to work with mamewah so it needs to be commandline and it needs to work.

I think that all of those emulators do exactly as you described.  They launch a game full screen via commandline parameters and exit with the escape key.  You might want to check out the mamewah setup tutorial: http://www.mamewah-setup.co.uk/html/info_settings.html

If you downloaded the emulators for consoles from screenshotarchive, then they should definitely work.  Must be an issue with your setup - hardware and software.  What version of Mamewah are you using and what is your setup?
