My first marquee
« on: October 19, 2004, 03:22:46 pm »
My first marquee. I used some Megatokyo images and some Sinfest images in it. Found the fonts for each one of the different systems. Also incorporated the MAME font I made into it. Have to adjust some of the centering probably do that tonight... Not a big fan of color as you can see. So I'm up for comments and suggestions. Oh and if anyone knows where I can get the Turbo Graphics font that would be nice.

I would lose the color on the image on the right if you're not a fan of color.  One thing though, It's gonna be really hard to light that up properly with such a thin primary font and thin white images.  I just don't think there's enough there for the light to penetrate. :-\

Lose the stick figure halo on the left of S, the line weight contrast is not visually interesting or sensical.

Use a different font for "sincade" the homemade mame font isn't good. Professional fonts are created with knowledge of the typographic arts.  What you have is just a jumble of badly constructed characters, with improper kerning, line weight, etc.

Make the font in the center white with no outlines. Move it to the center, & make it more prominent.

Make the logos of the other companies outlines (if you must keep them.) I would also lose the "mame" logo, it's nothing special, and does not have make the same connection with people that might play your that the other logos have.

Lost the color in the right character. If you are going to use, color, use it somewhere else.

Maybe the characters in the center are part of your theme, but I would either get rid of them, or the other style characters. Right now, the 2 styles are not resolved at all.

That's my quick 2

No  offensive taken. I'm actually planing on dropping the color on the right side chacter. The font is actually a combination of my Mame and Impact. I suppose I should just stick with one. I'll probly wind up filling in the word "Sincade" now that I've looked at it more instead of leaving it empty.

Thanks for the advice,
-Ften
