« on: October 14, 2004, 09:51:02 pm »
hi. i'm trying to run mamewah w/ mame ver. 55. i have a win 98 computer. the games show up and all, but i can't get any game to load. i can't get the games to load using the command prompt either. however, i can run the games using mame32 and using the exact same roms. is the any explination for this?

I have a couple of questions:

1.  Which ROM set do you have?
2.  Which version of MAME32 are you running?

The sets have changed drasticly since than, use ClrMAMEPro to fix your roms for .55. That should make them runnable.

I figured as much.  It seemed pretty simple from the info you posted.

By the way, you might want to get rid of your link on where you got the roms.

Wouldn't it be easier to use the mame version appropriate for the rom set rather than redo the roms?

Yeah, but some people like to switch to the newest version when it's released.  Some also like to stick with a certain older one because others have said that it's the best version with older hardware.

I updated to .87 and found nothing of significant gain so I've decided to stick with .79.  It's the best version before the xml stuff.

If using the command line version, make sure you are adding the -rp option for the rom path.
