my anime artwork
« on: October 05, 2004, 05:48:21 am »
not interested in authenticity so i started this a while back using masamune shirow art.I decided some of the pics just werent good enough quality and that it was a bit grey/bland.so ive gone with quite a different approach this time.
here is the other thread http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=13;action=display;threadid=24185
i decided i needed  to order an art book and scan the images myself.i used a very basic layout to make the images work together by seperating with borders.just quickly thrown these together to choose which images i like and whether the boarder thing works.basic sizing shifting controls needed(dont like where start buttons are)
The marquee i have no idea how i could add a name across it without doing to much damage to images. any suggestions would be muchly appreciated.

In the artbook i found a couple of pics that would look good as round images so after seeing pixelhuggers moonpatrol (which is legendary by the way) i thought it would be cool to put an image on the side printed out on marquee style paper and set up kinda like a port hole.that however means finding some sort of metal surround.all i want to do with it is lay it on top of side so it sticks out a few mm
heres the pic of the side image and zoomed in view of section

and finaly not really art related but i have a sword lying about doing nothing (actually it was under the bed) and i figure with the whole masamune thing i could somehow incorperate it into the cab.i can shorten its hilt so it will fit the length of the control panal then make a resessed area with perspex cover to lay the sword in.I could get a carver to make up some cool mounts to hold it as well if i cant find anything on net.i know some bone carvers that might be able to do something neat. Not really sure how this would turn out.
heres a pic of sword with hilt off(its just standard binded samurai styles.

My cab design is based off stealthboys which is based off lusids so ive done (a terrible :) ) mock up using one of his pics to give an idea of what i mean.pic is mising metal surround on side.

advice
oh yeah and sorry bout heaps of pic gettin a bit carried away

For the marquee you could always mask the image with text.  Basically look like the type is made from the images.  You'd want to go with a fat, thick font though.

cheers ill give that marquee idea a go (if i can work out how). again off the art but i also got thinking that painting the sword blade in clear orange uv might look cool especily if i stensiled on another coloured uv japanese symbols throughout its little case and the bone or white mounts would also light up
updated marquee idea

font needs to be bigger but it look like itle work well
