Red Octane DDR pad with Xbox USB adapter
« on: August 28, 2004, 12:33:42 pm »
Ok, I threw together an xbox to usb adapter cable (as if it were some amazing feat of engineering) and it works fine with the xbox controller... but when I hook up my Red Octane dance pad.. it does nothing.  I'm assuming this is just a driver issue... but has anyone else managed to get a DDR pad working with a PC?  I'm wanting my arcade system to have Step Mania on it as well as MAME, so any help would be wonderful.

Ok, you would have similar problems when trying to use an aftermarket xbox controller on the pc.  Here is the soulition.

Look under troubleshooting, follow the steps, their for hooking up another controller, but i am pretty sure it would be the same thing with the ddr pad.  let me know if it works for you, also if ya need some help just ask me and ill know what to do, ive had to do this 15 times already.

unfortunately, the pad doesn't even show up under USBVIEW when I connect it.

The gamepad works perfectly though... *sigh*

Does anyone know what the extra wire in an xbox cable is for?  Maybe that has something to do with it.

that extra wire is for the light guns and not 100% sure but it might also be for the dvd dongle
