how to set the videocard for 15KHz?
« on: September 20, 2002, 03:13:02 am »
I have a real arcade monitor and want to use it for mame. From what i read, the arcade monitor can only handle 15KHz, anything higher and it can damaged the screen.

I heard ArcadeOS can set some videocard to 15KHz, but my card does not seem to be on the supported list. http://www.mameworld.net/pc2jamma/mamemon5.html

I have an old PCI S3 trio and a PCI 3DFX voodoo4 4500.

is there any other way to set my videocard to output 15KHz safely? or must i hunt down an ATI rage card?

Thanks in advance.

Check out advance mame http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/
May have more compatibility for your cards.  The cards it's compatible with can be found here:

The following two sites are great help for getting started with getting your arcade monitor to work with Mame.  Check a few threads down for the Windows On... thread as well.  Your best bet might would be either get the Trident Blade t64 card ($30) or one of the supported ATI cards.
