Raster to Vector Services
« on: August 23, 2004, 08:13:27 pm »
I have tried many software programs that are supposed to vectorize a raster image and none of them seemed to work.  If anyone knows of a site that offers vectorization services that would be great.

this is the image i want to vectorize

I"m no expert here but I think that image is going to be just about impossible to vectorize.   Too many color shades, curves, and detail.

Also, if someone could tell me where i could get a simmilar image(s) in vector format, that would work also.

It is not possible to convert a rich photo, or pattern like this fully into vector format. Well, you COULD theoretically, but the file size would not benefit you, and it wouldn't make it easier to color shift.

Now, you could make an approximation. If that's what you are looking for, someone here might be able to help you.

I guess the main question is,

what is the purpose of your need for a transition from raster to vector?

You can do it like this(pic attached, had to drop quility to fit it under 250 kb incase you are wondering why it funky).Paste 4 layers, mirror and flip 2 and put 4 of the them together. I always make any background pictures bigger like this without actually resizing the picture.

I will do it if you don't understand what I am trying to explain, give me the L x W of your panel ! :)

I agree with the others.

Trying to vectorize that would be like trying to sweep the sand off the beach.  ;D

The problem here is too... if you don't have a high-res source to begin with, tracing anything very well is difficult.

The other option is to convert it into a tiled picture, then you could make it as big as you need to, even being a vector format.
