xbox keyboard/controler relationship
« on: August 22, 2004, 04:51:28 pm »
I am building a dance pad for use with my xbox and I need the smallest way to hook up all the wires (hacking a controler is a little big).  I am concidering using a usb adapter and hacking a keyboard as their insides are smaller then controlers'.  However I want it to work with original xbox games as well as stepmania.  Are the up, down, left, right, a, b, x, y, start, and back buttons on the controler directly related to keys on a keyboard?

Original xbox games have no keyboard or mouse support (even if you use the usb adapter)...sorry.  You'd have to either hack pads or buy original ddr pads.

Madcatz pads are usually the easiest.  But if you use multiple consoles, the easiest is to hack PSX (or even the h-series PS1 DS pads) and then use a converter for whatever console you have (also works with PC if you use a usb converter).
