Composite Sync vs H + V Sync (Light gun on Sayno 20EZ 19")
« on: July 30, 2004, 04:07:16 pm »
I have a Sanyo 20EZ 19" Monitor from a Nintendo machine, it has a composite sync wire hooked through to a VGA Amp, I would like to use a light gun but heard you NEED H Sync and V Sync wires seperate.... Is there a way to just slip the composite sync wire to get it working with the Act Labs USB Light Gun??? Has anyone ever got that light gun working on a Sanyo 20EZ?

You might be able to run the same wire into both H and V inputs and if the electronics are advanced enough it will split them for you.  Or you can build/buy a sync splitter circuit to split the H and V apart.

If the VGA amp is from Ultimarc, then it can split the
Composite Sync for you. The directions should of
came with the amp on CD or you can find the directions
on Ultimarc's web site.

Ok, I understand your problem. The monitor you have ONLY accepts negative composite sync. So unless someone has a hack for the monitor board itself, you are outta luck getting it to work with the pc lightguns.

if you want to permanently convert your monitor to RGB, this guy sells an inverter kit for 5 bucks, http://users.rcn.com/jenison/mars/trouble/part/monitors/fixitkits.html  but you'll have to do some pcb work on the monitor.

That still will not give the monitor seperate sync inputs.
Some monitors just won't work with the guns.

This probably won't help you, but I thought it might possibly be worth mentioning.  My  monitor (a Wells Gardener 25k7191) originally had a pin for vsync, but no actual wire.  I added a wire for vsync, and it worked with my lightgun:
