ATI video cards: TV Out in DOS?
« on: June 05, 2004, 09:08:39 am »
Do they handle TV out in DOS mode or just Windows mode?

Does it matter what ATI card you have?  I.e., if it is an older model, like the RAGE 128 Pro 16 MB PCI which does TV Out via Windows, will it be able to do TV Out in DOS?

I think all of them except the Radeon 7000 will work in DOS with TV-Out.

Thanks.  That's just what I needed to hear.

This board is awesome, BTW.  Quick, polite answers.  Thanks again.

I don't know if this is of any help, but I had an old Radeon 8500LE (OEM ATI)  that would only output s-video once Windows booted up.  (It was black during boot-up and I couldn't enter BIOS with it).  When I picked up a Radeon 9800 I was surprised to see s-video booted quicker than my monitor and BIOS and everything was visible.  Not sure if this helps.  Maybe DOS is different, or maybe the card was just slightly defective, but just throwing it out there.

I have a ATI RAGE PRO PCI video card and it does out put in dos.
BUT... If i use the TV out part of the card in dos with mame its Terribly Slow.
If i use the same card with VGA out its fine... ( also more resolutions to use )
( long live my J-Pac and great maming! )..
