Virtua Fighter cab questions

<< < (4/5) > >>

pakchooi:
Whilst looking for info on my cab I found this on the 50" screen version
(dunno if it's of any help)

Model Number: VS50-SE1
Sega Part Number: 2001-5265
Flyback Number: 998-0066 Thru 0069 tubes and lead
Resolution: Med (24kx60)

I can't remember where I found it as I've been trawling for info for days on VF machines.

ChadTower:
Well, it's a bit more than I had, anyway.  Since I've been hoping to MAME this sucker... and you seem to have confirmed what I feared, which is that that huge monitor is medium res... is it possible to MAME a medium res machine?  I haven't looked into that yet.

OR, what are the odds this 50" is switchable?  I still haven't been able to find monitor docs.

Superdude:
Yes Mame works with Medium Rez Monitors.  You have 2 options though.  You can run windows 98 with special Trident Drivers for the Tblade 16 or you can run Advance Mame with Advance Menu in DOS.  I created a Medium Rez Mame cab and it worked out fine and looked great.
If you neeed help let me know.

pakchooi:
/\ /\ This is good news  ;D

That IS good news, since I'm not going to find another 50" RGB monitor.  :)  Another part of my desire with this was to be able to run console emulators... Do those Trident Drivers allow you to run Win98 natively at that res, or is it just able to configure certain programs to run at that resolution?

Of those two options, given that I would like to run MAME and console emulators, which would you recommend?  Trident or AdvanceMAME/DOS?
