Virtua Fighter cab questions
pakchooi:
Hi everybody :), excellent forum you have here, loads of useful information.
I'm starting my mame cab this weekend and I'll be picking up a Virtua Fighter cabinet on Friday to build into.
The guy who is giving me it says the monitor is fine but the board is fried (don't need the board anyway, obviously).
There should be loads of usable parts on it etc.
My main question is about the monitor; has anyone had any experience with the Virtua Fighter screens?
What should I be looking out for?
I've had a look around and they seem to either come with Nanao Med-Res or Well Garner K5000.
Med-res appears to be a no-go for mame, is this correct?
Any other info/documentation on the Virtua Fighter cabs would also be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Pak.

I dont know the answer to you question but I know someone does. welcom to BYOAC. You might check the MONITOR forums for your answer though.

I am after *any* esoteric knowledge on the Virtua Fighter cab, but
yeah, I probably posted this in the wrong section.
Sorry:-[
If a mod could move it there I'd be grateful.
Minwah:
I'm sure I've read (in the Monitor Forum) that Virtua Fighter (& similar Sega cabs) often come with 15 / 25khz (ie standard / medium res) switchable screens.
Try a search through the monitor board, or hopefully Ken Layton will read this...
Try to find out from the guy what model the screen is, that would help also.

I found this:
http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=V&game_id=10328
which says that it is "Type: Raster: Medium Resolution"
But, as Minwah says, a search of the forum does reveal some having a 15/25 switchable potiential. In fact it was one of Kens posts that helped resolve this question for someone else.
Thanks so far everyone :)
