Installed Cap Kit, now monitor shows nada.
« on: January 01, 2005, 07:32:51 pm »
I have a Sanyo 20EZ and just installed a cap kit on it. Once I was done I checked polarity, solder joints and everything looked fine. I put the monitor together backward and when I turned it on.... NOTHING.

The sound still works and the neck of the tube glows, but no picture. What did I do wrong?? Plugged everything back in (I think). I can't see anything dosconnected.

Do I need to recheck eack cap again?? There are knobs on the bottom of the neckboard, but I am afraid to adjust any of them. Did one of those get knocked??

I also checked the brightness and it was turned all the way up.

PLEASE ADVISE!!! THANKS

It is common to need to adjust the "Screen" and "Focus" controls on the flyback. Consider the screen control as a coarse brightness control that sets the range of the regular brightness control over on the little board with all the other controls (bright, horiz hold, volume, etc).

Turn the screen control a little bit clockwise to turn up the brightness some more.

Thanks for the info Ken. Fortunately it was alot simpler to fix.. There that 6 pin cable that goes into the board.. Yeah I forgot to plug it into the board.. What a dummy!!

Now the picture looks awesome.. It makes me want to put an arcade monitor in my Mame cab now..

That six pin cable was probably the video input and sync connector.
