How often do you actually Play games in your cabinet?

Hi,
Been reading a few wife stories here on the board. Here is mine.... My Cabinet is sitting in the Garage and I have been unable to convice my wife to allow me to bring it into the house.
Since it is in the garage I only get to play games on the cabinet a few times a week. I figure the cabinet would get a lot more use if it was inside the house.  (I do play a bit more on my computer but it is just not the same)

Of course I will be the first to admit that putting the thing together was fun in in itself.....

So do you guys get game time? or is it just me.....

Everyday....

   It's good for spending time with my 2 boys (10 & 7).

They both love to play Dad in MK, SF and TMNT.  Wife likes the 80's games.  I just love having it !!!

I guess I'm a lucky one, the wife is happy with the projects as long as the bills are paid and food's on the table (and I don't forget her B-Day or Anniv.....hehe)

My wife's the same way. She plays as much as me.
She loves to play Tetris type games.
I've got the one machine inside and she's ok with having my "new" 4 player machine inside as well, once its completed.

My cab is in a corner of the living room and is always on.  Yes, there are some weeks where I rarely use it (too busy) but I usually sneak some gametime in at least every other day.  I enjoy Robotron and a quick two games is only a couple minutes.  If I had to specifically go to my basement to play, it would likely get used a lot less.  Having it two steps from the dining room makes it handy while waiting for supper to finish being cooked.

Anytime guests/family is over, there is someone on the cab the entire time.  They don't feel isolated from the rest of the party, either.

Mine is in my basement.  I play usually once or twice a week.  I play my Twilight Zone pinball machine almost every day though.

Silly posters!  Cabs aren't for playing!  They're for building...and building...and building...and building... They're projects that are never finished, just like that classic car the guy down the street is restoring.  You and your buddies stand around them, drink beer, and talk about how X has ruined Y (i.e. instant replay has ruined football, 3d graphics have ruined creativity in video games, whatever works for your group of buddies).  Every couple of months you buy a part and install it, just so you can say you've actually made progress on it (thus justifying the space it takes up).   But never, never ever, never, should they be finished.  Unless of course you're selling the cab and buying a new one to build.

Do what I did.

Arrange for a guys party and ask to bring it in for just the party.  The night before make sure it's on PBobble or some other game she might like, or be able to pick up really quick.

she'll be addicted by the morning.  

I got my gameroom after that ploy.  2 cabs and a slot later, I'm looking for a pinball  (it's gotta be cheap or a deal though for the wifey to okay it.  I made the mistake of showing her how much some pins can be.  I'm a little blown away by that)  She even plays the occaisional complete game of metal slug or some button masher, but always whups my tail at PBobble.

and now that being said, since we've got a kiddo now, my gameroom is now the nursery, but it was a good run while I had it.

anyway, back on topic.  get her addicted to some game(s) and she'll want it in the living room.

You are right, until I showed my wife "Chicken Shift" (of all the games why that one I'll never know) the only game she would play was "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Crash Bandicoot". Now she's a "Chicken Shift" master or should I say mistress, lol.

LOL!  Chicken Shift..that's a great game.  I get so confused after like 5 minutes of it.  

To answer the original question of how often I play mine?  Daily.  Sometimes for hours.  I love that machine.

My Mame machine is located in my unfinished basement and my Pole Position 2 machine is in the garage with 2 empty cabs of the future.  As the garage & basement is the only place I am allowed to have "My Stupid" stuff.

As I don't realy have a "cab" per-se, these numbers may be skewed a bit from what they would be on something other than my "temp-cade" but between the woman and I, we only play once or twice a week for an hour or so until we get tired of hunching over on the couch...

I play my cab every other day.  Sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes for hours.  Mainly playing Gun Dealer for some reason in the last week or Moon Cresta.

I play mine once a week or so because I am really busy.  The kids play it every other day or so.

Once in  a while we have a Family Centipede Tournament with is pretty fun.  That also bolsters my case that the cab brings the family together and therefore quite naturally belongs in the den.

Family Cab night is a great idea, and I applaud you for it!

For a long time I had MOST of my games in a dedicated gameroom. But the problem was that the gameroom was sort of away from the rest of the apartment, so I tended to go in there more often to work on games than I was to play them.

Anyway, then along came the Star Wars cockpit. It was impossible for me to get this monster into the gameroom, as it couldn't navigate the hallway. So I switched my living room and gameroom. So now my living room is the room that used to be my gameroom, and the gameroom is the room that you walk into when you enter my apartment. The games are getting a lot more play now.

I made sure my wife had no objections to having it in the house before I built it. She actually seems to be more proud of it than I am. Anytime someone comes over who's never seen it, she shows it off to them first thing.

well.... my cab is not done yet....
the cab is standing, but no CP yet....

I have a party yesterday.... and I put a board there and just lay to joystick boxes so that kids can play a bit....

kinda crappy setup for now.... but its used non-stop.....
 

I'm happy that less kids running around in the house...
