New Tabletop Project - Scooby Doo Mystery Arcade
« on: April 21, 2004, 08:56:12 pm »
Hi everyone,

Thought I'd post a couple of pictures of my new tabletop project as I come down the home stretch so you might have some idea what I was up to as I besiege the board with stupid question about finishing this thing up.

This project is purely inspired by bishmasterb's wonderful Tron tabletop.  It includes an old Celeron 400 laptop, a T-Stick Balltop  and I think just 2 buttons (even though the preliminary images show 3).  The target audience is my 5-year old daughter (and eventually her 2 year old sister).

Everything is coming together well.  The laptop actually fits in there and I haven't screwed up any woodworking yet.

This is just about the most fun I've had in years, thanks to all the great people on this forum!

More to come....

Very cool theme. It would be really cool if you could figure out how to make it look like the mystery van. If nothing else it would be sweet if you cut the side panels on the cabinet in the shape of the van and then painted it to match the cartoon. Maybe a little too much work, but it would definitely enhance the theme.

I like the Scooby Doo theme, very cool! Your daughter is going to love it. Makes me want to do a Hello Kitty themed cab for my 4 year old daughter...oh no! Be sure to post updated pics when you're done.

Hey thanks, man.  Huge parts of it are a blatant rip-off of your great little cab.  Wanted to thank you immensely for the great website.  It really helped me get my thoughts together on how to go about building this little cabinet,

Hopefully the finished products looks 1/2 as good as yours...
