New Site: BYOPVR - Build your own PVR / DVR tivo
« on: January 07, 2004, 10:04:10 pm »
As mentioned in this thead

I've launched a new site dedicated to building your own Personal Video Recorder / Digital Video Recorder ....  inspired by the great community here, I'm hoping to build half as good community there (as here).  If you have any interest at all in the topic, I really could use some help getting the ball rolling in the forums over there...

It's ironic that i started a build your own pvr sit after getting a Tivo for christmas... but i still love the idea and spirit of DIY/ build your own... and hope to see some of you over there...

Thanks for your time...

PS I hope this isn't too far off topic, mods... throw me a bone, eh? ... please? nooooo not post hell.... nooooooo!

Well...
When I get my arcade machine up & running (& pretty enough for the wife to accept it into our house) I'm looking at starting my own PVR...

I know it's not cheaper than TiVo, but I want it for the geek factor more than anything.  The only thing(s) holding me back would be the $$$ & the wife letting me spend the time. She's already put an ultimatum in place that I have to finish the arcade machine before I start any other projects.

But I'll be glad to be an active member of BYOPVR once I get to that point... It'll just be a little while.

Nice looking site by the way!

LOL how many more acronyms can I fit into the subject line...  yes HTPc discussion is also welcome.

It's a community driven site (like here).... so submit articles, post topics, submit links/FAQs (and answers)/ submit a hardware or software review ... go there and fart around and help me get the ball rolling (please)...  a little groundswell of activity could really go a long way. =)

So yeah... come on over... post or submit what ever you want as long as it's roughly in line with the topic of HTPc, PVR, DIY, etc. etc...

Thanks for all the interest so far (I appreciate it)!

Hey...you need to include some info on your site! like...What is PVR? What is your site about? Why am I interested in being there? What can I learn? Ya know? Cuz at first I had a minimal clue about it, and there is no "ABOUT" link available.

I did figure it out eventually, but since i clicked the link from BYOAC, I was confused at first and an "ABOUT" page would probably stop that from happening in the future, eh?

PEACE OUT BRO! (Got any spare change?)

Thanks for the feedback...   I've been steadily adding features and content and tweaking like crazy =) Like user journaling/blogging, highlighting the about page, etc...

you can also make your suggestions in the forum over there (anonymous posting is turned on for now...)

thanks again for all the feedback, visits...

Looks like you're using Slash as the news program, am I right?

Survey says.....!

PostNuke a fairly stable, more secure, better community fork of PHPNuke.   But yeah it's a little like slash in function.

I use it for my main site RandomDrivel and of course the new one BYOPVR... *Shrug* it's not perfect, but it works very well at it does and i'm pretty adept at finding/alterning modules/themes to meet my needs =)

I'm sorry what was the question again? =P
