The plans are only $30.00, but it will cost a small fortune to get enough bar clamps for the glue up!

Shuffleboard, eh?

(Shuffleshot is the game with the Canadian announcer, right?)

sorry to go a little OT...

But what is the name of that semi-electro mechnical "shuffle" game where you use a metal puck to knock down sawn in half plastic bowling ball pins?

You'd use "roll gold" or some weird cornstarch looking stuff to, uh.. lube/wax the playing surface, sorta...

Not only would you be spending alot on clamps, the wood would cost a fortune!!!  I probably would build one if it could be done for less than lets say $100.
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

The only way that I think you could do it for less than $100.00 dollarsld be if you already owned every tool you would need and cut down your own maple tree for the wood.

Rampy,  That was called ShuffleBowl.

If you look at the EBay site, some of the pictures show the table with that same powdery stuff on it.

I have a brother-in-law who does demo work on the side.  He saved 3 bowling lanes from a demo job he did.  The spare one, he talked about cutting it up to do something like this, but the friggen extras are EXPENSIVE.  Unless someone knows of where to buy the "pucks" from cheap, this is an EXPENSIVE thing to build.

I know the guy says he gives sources in his plans for the peripherals, but this should be info anyone should be able to find on the 'net, and I've found NOTHING that was reasonably cheap.

On the OT post, was that Ten-Pin Alley?  I just saw one @ the Feb auction in Wisconsin, but it was in TERRIBLE shape, so I didn't even bother to take a second glance.

I had started to draw up plans for one of these before I got distracted.(Mame)  I even went to D&B to messure the ones that they had.

I was going to use a preformed cabinet top. The ones that are made out of laminate and particle board. Just cut of the back splash and relaminate the edge. And then polish the hell out of the top.

Might be a tab under the quality of the butcher block but I could have done if for about 150.

The 'pucks' were about 100 also.

The total cost of the materials will vary depending on the type of wood used and the price you pay per board foot for the wood, but are estimated at around $850 for an all solid hardwood table.

Does this sound reasonable?  The sellers will always underprice...

What was that again?

You gotta realize what he said....he spoke of an ALLhardwood table.  I can see building one for less than that if you 1)selected your wood carefully 2)used a softwood such as pine for nonplaying surfaces.

It'll depend on your area for the price of wood.  I can also see saving money by using a smaller thickness hardwood for the top and pairing it up with a softwood for the rest.

If this is what you wanna do, research the materials.  You'll want to see how much the "pucks" are and if you're willing to spend that much, first.  The rest of the the thing is fairly straightforward....box attached to legs, basically.

Go find one of these.  Once you see one, you'll probably say to yourself "PFFF, I could build that thing, EASY!"

Another option my church did was to use pine to build the whole thing, carpet the playing surface, and use balls.  They use hardballs for the smaller kids, pool balls for the older kids.  Some tape for the markings, and you're set
