Anyone know what monitor this is?
« on: April 17, 2004, 03:41:00 pm »
hi

i've just bought this arcade monitor on ebay (please see attached pic)

Does anyone know what make/model monitor it might be?

i know this is probably a long shot (i figure most monitors all look alike inside).

i am too impatient waiting for the seller to get back to me with make and model details. apparantly it came out of a working jamma cabinet and is descibed as "working as new".

sorry if this is another stupid question   ::)

i want to look up the specs on it and check if it need to get an isolation transformer.

Anyone know of anywhere to get a I.T. in the UK? (if it turns out that i need one)

cheers

Looks like a Wells-Gardner 19K4900 (a.k.a. the 4900 series).

Yes, it's ok and yes it REQUIRES an isolation transformer.

You should always use an isolation transformer even if the manufacturer says you don't need one. It's just cheap insurance.

Isolating Transformer
« Reply #5 on: April 18, 2004, 06:30:41 pm »
bob roberts mentions how to wire one up here http://www.dameon.net/BBBB/buildit.html

it seems pretty straight forward.

what spec isolation transformer i should be ask/looking for? or are they generic for all monitors (as i am in the UK it should be 240v)

what are their approximate size?

where's best place to get one (i'm in the UK)?

will i need the power filter also, or will unfiltered mains to the monitor be ok?

i will have a ATX PSU also to power the motherboard.

i hope this will all fit inside the cocktail cabinet  :-\

Also is there a way to power off the monitor when the PC is shutdown?

cheers

Go to www.happcontrols.com and click on their contact info. They have a UK branch office with quite a good stock of everything. They will have an isolation transformer for UK use.

i saw that they only had a 110v use transformer on their webpage, but i'll give them a call anyway.

what about the filter, do you think it is neccessary?

The monitor does not normally use an external power filter. Usually the monitor's main circuit board already has a small power line filter in it. Your monitor won't need one, but it will need the isolation transformer. Ring Happs' UK office and talk to them.
