DFW Auction
« on: March 12, 2004, 11:46:39 am »
I saw on a previous thread some people got together for an auction in Dallas. I had to miss the Feb. 28 outing because of a nephews birthday.  :'( I see there is one tomorrow in Mesquite. Is anybody getting together for that one?

I might be going out there.  I had planned on it, it's the best placed to play pinball  :)

Nannuu and Haghore were talking about it as well.  If I'm there, I'll be in a yankee hat.

they are really hyping the slots this time, I've heard a bunch of radio spots for it.

SuperAuctions is also doing 2 special auctions on 3/27 to sell off everything at 2 Putt-Putt locations.  Looks like there are some goodies to be grabbed there as well.   Even a 15ft+ tall giraffe statue :)

....hmmm....wonder if wife will allow Giraffe-MAME.  I just bought a Shinobi (originally a joust) and have dreams of my own MAME cabinet. It would be nice to meet some other BYOAC people to share experiences with since I'm a noobie. I'll hope its not all slots. I'll be there in a longhorn hat.

Keep an eye out for the yankee hat (it's beige)  I figure in TX that stands out, there's always more longhorns than yankees in TX.   ;)

What time do you think you're getting there?

If I can swing it I'll be there from like 9-10ish to about lunchtime.

No it shouldn't be all slots (supposedly it's 3 days of slot sales...not auction.  that puts me off because there's no picking up the cheap ones like we did last time...I LOVE my slot).  There will be plenty of games and hopefully one of these days I can pick up a pinball for at least just an arm instead of all four apendages and both kidneys.  I just can't bear to hear "Oh you shoulda been there THIS time..$1 pinballs and cabs"...I might throw up.

at least I can say I was there when some cabs were a $1, slots were $60,plus some jukes and a DP machine went for FREE.

Good point about the longhorn cap. I'll wear my monster garage hat with flames instead. I'll probably get there between 10-11:00am. I have to stop by the post office first to pick some cd's I got from a guy in the lazarus group. It's like christmas all over again! ;D

I'll be there for a bit as well.  I'm babysitting my one year old all day since the wife will be at a baby shower.  So I might not be able to stay long.  At least I'll be easy to spot!  Not sure what time I'll make, Sydney will decide for me.
Next I'll be on fries, and that's when the big money starts rolling in.

Sorry I couldn't stick around guys.  I hope you were able to stay and get a good deal on one of the dead cabs.  If so, don't tell me <hands over ears> LA LA LA LA LA LA LA I can't hear you!!!  I'll definitely stay for the entire auction in May.

$1.22???!?!?!?!?!

Man we checked out that silworm cab...NICE score.

Nannuu your garage has been volunteered for the the "pizza, chicken wings and beer mame build"

all proceeds to benefit the local chicken wing, pizza and beer establishments  ;)

I got a pretty decent deal in a quasi-working Mr Do cocktail for $75 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!  I was talking to the the Chemix and in mid sentence I popped my bidder card up and got it.  It looks like a converted Galaga or Ms Pac....I am sooooo happy.  The 19" monitor is perfect, no burn in at all , and the game plays, but the sound needs work and the picture is a little goofy at times.  I am itching to make this into a Galaga/Ms Pac.

This was definitley the time of you wanted some project cabs..3 rows of the non-prime stuff just waiting.  Things that made me a little sad.  on the junk row were 4 Star Wars (without yokes but with bezels and one with all art), and 3 Trons that had been dismembered and painted.    :'(

next is a pinball....well actual next is a house with a gameroom...and then a pinball.

I got my cocktail FINALLY and for 75 bucks I'm happy.  Although I did have to call my wife ont he way home and say "Honey, I got you a new sidetable!"

What was the range for the cabs on dead row?  How high did the Star Wars and Tron cabs go?  Were there a lot for 1.00?  Or did they all get bid up some?

There was some people hip to to what the cabs were (it helped that the auctioneer pointed it out) so all the classic cabs , tron and star wars bezel cabs went for $40-$70. The one that still had galaga graffics went for $90. On the dead row 4 were free, 3-4 went for a dollar and the rest went between $5-45 depending on if the game was working. I told NY_in_TX that I would be willing to donate my cab to building an arcade classic machine if you are ineterested. I would have picke more but I didn't room in my Montero and I live in an apartment.

Those are still excellent prices for any of those cabs.  Since just about all of them had monitors, controls, coin doors etc, that is just a great deal.  Hopefully May will be as nice.  I won't be able to do any until the minis are done.  And I do have a cab to use for such an occasions but it doesn't have a monitor.

I was there for about an hour. Didn't want to wait around cuz I was interested in a 25" cabinet for conversion. I should have bid on the busted Gauntlet: Legends that went for like $200. :P

(In fact, I did the first time, but then they put it up again).

Cabs seemed to go cheaper at this auction than the last.  I wish I could have stuck around to get something.  Sorry I missed you, maybe the next on if you make the trip up here again.

Man, wished I could've made it, especially after Nannuu told me about the 3 rows of junk cabs and the MAME cabs that sold for major money.  Would've liked to see the MAME cabs and what all was put on them.  Anyway, I will definitely be at the next one in May!
