USB Gamepad Hack 2.0
« on: March 24, 2004, 02:30:00 pm »
Some of you may remeber my first attempt at making a control panel:

http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=15939

I was not satisfied with the way it turned out (even though it was functional) so I decided to try again.  I redesigned the button layout to better fit my hand, and I also did the wiring differently.

Zip ties, terminal strips, and quick disconnects are the greatest inventions ever!   ;D

I plan on having some artwork printed eventually and then I'll probably cover the controller with plexi.

Anyone have one of these tools?  They make wirestripping EASY!!!

I've never used one of those fancy wire-stripping tools and that's because I can't justify spending that much money on a tool when I can get something just as functional for $3.
I'd rather take the $35 I saved and invest in more arcade $#!T.

~edit: BTW, you're CP looks good.

I paid like $10 for mine.  Well worth it if you strip a lot of wire.

I've got one that doesn't look anything like that one, but it does the same thing. I think I paid about $10 for it and it's got to be one of the handiest tools I own.

Between the slot car track and two mame cabs I have used mine a LOT!!!!  Mine was free from my father in law. He saved a couple of them when they were being thrown out because the rubber handles had split. He wrapped them with electrical tape and they work perfectly.

Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!
