Cap Kit problems, G07
« on: March 30, 2004, 11:37:57 pm »
I just put a cap kit into a g07 (19") and I have a dark band on the top of the screen. Any suggestions?

Later,
dabone

(Monitor was working before, just doing the cap kit for maintenance.)

Probably bad solder on one of the new caps you put it.

Check to make sure all your "-" and "+" are facing the right directions.
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

Be sure to double check cap C302's polarity. Look in your capkit instructions as this cap's polarity markings on the pc board were wrong from the factory.

Check www.therealbobroberts.com  He's got a good trouble shooting guide in there dealing with cap kits.

Ok, I've removed all the caps, cleaned with a solder wick, removed all the resin and reinstalled. The problem I'm getting is the center of the screen is brighter than the top . (A solid red screen will be fine on the bottom half of the screen but the very top will be just grayer.
Using the nokia monitor test, the mouse pointer is white in the center but a dull nearly burnt orange color near the top.
I've manually degaussed the monitor with a real degaussing coil (no electric drills here).

Maybe one the non replacement caps?

Later,
dabone

Could be that 10 uf @ 160 volt cap on the neckboard?

Nope did that one also, (put the original one back in just for a test also, no change)

Maybe the tube going?

p.s. This is a horrible burn in monitor that I've chosen to work on to refresh my skills before I recap my 2 25" k7000s.
