Switchres issue with Mame UI
« on: May 04, 2026, 06:19:12 pm »
I am usually using a front end, so don't encounter this issue, but when testing / upgrading versions it often easier to use Mame UI to launch games. However I can't get Mame UI to launch at a sensible resolution with Switchres enabled. I have tried every setting I can think of.

With Switchres disabled I get a sensible display. With Switchres enable it is either out of sync or really tiny and unreadable, however games all launch into their correct resolutions perfectly. The issue is just with Mame UI

How do I get switchres to select a sensible resolution for Mame UI and still launch games at their correct resolution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried with a modern version? UI font rendering was greatly improved in groovymame some time ago. If you do so, make sure to select the uismall font type for the UI.

Anyway the internal UI is ugly as hell.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.
