help - Mamewah not displaying many png's
« on: March 07, 2004, 04:03:12 pm »
Hi,

I'm pretty sure I've got Mamewah configured correctly because it does display some screen shot png's for certain games, but most of the time I get nuthin.

I see png's with the right name, and I can look at them in a graphics program and they look OK.  Any idea why Mamewah isn't showing them?  Again - it does show a few from the same directory so I think the cfg is set up right.

thanks,
Sean

???

Very odd that some show and some don't.  Maybe you could email me one of the pics that won't display and I'll see if I have the same problem...

OK - I emailed tapper.png.

More info: I am running under win98.  If you can think of any experiments I can do to get more insight let me know.  Do you rely on a png decoder from windows?  Because maybe I'm missing something in my OS installation.

Mamewah is a great program.  Thanks for all the effort.

Well tapper.png displays fine for me...

I wonder if what you originally said is wrong - perhaps some *images* show up but not PNG's at all?  If this is the case then you are missing PaintX.dll.  This DLL should be installed appropriately upon installation, unless you just copied the MAMEWAH folder over from another machine.  I just can't think of any reason why some PNG's would show but not others ???

You could be right.  I did move mamewah, and then realized it wasn't working too well, so I moved it back.  Then I deleted it, and re-installed it into the new location I had tried to move it too...

Somewhere along the way I probably screwed something up.

Is there something I should do to gaurentee a totally clean re-install?

Go into Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall MAMEWAH if it appears in the list,
Delete any MAMEWAH folder(s) you might have,
Restart your PC and re-install from the download.

That should do it ;)
