CRT Emudriver on a Sony PVM no sync
« on: November 02, 2024, 08:39:13 pm »
I recently acquired Sony PVM 9220ME, it's a PAL TV with composite output only. Tried connecting it to PC but it either outputs a black screen or a messy signal.

My setup: PC with 3070 as main GPU, R9 380 as a second, Windows 11

I connected it like this: R9 380 (DVI-I) -> DVI-I to VGA passive adapter -> VGA cable -> VGA to composite transcoder -> composite cable -> PVM

I followed the main CRT Emu guide obviously, but I'm stuck and I can't get nowhere near a stable picture. Tried changing the polarity, no difference. Tried setting the refresh rate from 60 to 50 or 52, no difference. Found some modelines specifically made for PVMs but also nothing changed. Someone suggested to set the resolution directly through ArcadeOSD, also nothing.  Tried all possible resolutions, also nothing.

But I'm not knowledgeable enough to experiment with the configs myself, this TV model doesn't seem to have a service menu but I'm 100% it's fine because it works perfectly when I connect the TV through a HDMI scaler to my Nvidia GPU. So it's either a config problem or a connection problem.

I read somewhere that on beta 13 and higher it's possible to just get a VGA to BNC-5 cable? But that would still output RGB so that would not work here. Will installing ATOM15 help? I'm seriously lost and need advice, I looked everywhere already.
