Can't adjust 640x480 modeline
« on: July 24, 2024, 05:11:20 pm »
I'm very aware you can't edit the desktop resolution. But 640x480 isn't my desktop resolution.

Everything else is fine in my setup but that one mode needs adjustments. No idea why it's not working.

Any help appreciated.

Still no solution. Anyone?

I'm using Windows 7.

There is a Windows "native" 640x480 mode at 60p (non-interlaced) which you cannot edit - it is hardware locked. You'll only see it in ArcadeOSD if you have "Lock unsupported modes [no]" selected on the first ArcadeOSD screen. Normally you should select "[yes]" there.

All that's assuming you're actually using CRT_emulator and ArcadeOSD on a CRT. Maybe provide some more detail and/or screenshots. What monitor, graphics card you are using, what you've tried to do (and how, why). People won't respond if they are not sure exactly what your issue is.

Well then that's that. The native mode.

Using a Hantarex Polo Star Trisync. So I guess that means getting the native 480p set first and then everything else. Let's see when I feel like starting over.

The "native" mode is locked into the driver, you cannot edit it.

Maybe try creating a "custom" mode for something close, like 648x480p or 640x480p@59hz

For 480p, you can delete the default mode with CRU, then make a custom 480p mode that the driver should default to

I can't think of any conceivable reason to be on Win 7. You can use your Win 7 key to upgrade to Win 11 for free

There's a few good reasons someone might not want to upgrade their arcade PC from Win 7 to Win 11, but that's not really important and I'm not looking for an argument today.

Ever wonder why Microsoft skipped a number with their Windows releases? It is quite simple when you think about it.

In my case it was not possible because it was in use by system. I switch to other resolution and them 640x480 was editable.
