Sorry, I was kinda vague when I said "one big box". I think you need 2 units for the monitor tower, as well. Moving it would be a royal PITA, otherwise! What I pictured in my mind was a box for the monitor base (3'-ishH x 2'6"-ishW x 20"-ish D). On top of that would be the TV box (?H x 2'6"-ishW x 20"-ish D). I've already thought about how to keep them connected and steady....See the attachment for what I'm gonna use to keep the two-piece monitor tower connected to each other. That thingy is a table-leaf latch. A window sash latch is almost the same thing, and can be easily seen at your local Home Depot store.
As far as the MDF, considering it's span strength and what it will be holding, (an 8000 lb gorilla!) I have serious doubts that it'll suit your needs without sagging in a short while.
Let me check my Home Depot Disk and see if I can provide you a picture of the type of angle iron I'm talking about. I'm pretty confident something can be fashioned without drilling, but drilling/welding is the first thing off the top of my head that I KNOW will work. I'll work on a pic of it for ya.

I have had plans listed on the Web for almost a year now, they are not great, but they are mine, and I can take more measurements if you need!
My Web site is http://home.comcast.net/~pmailley/
Any questions please feel free to Email me!
There are pictures on the site to, I also was unable to find plans.
Hope it helps!

okay, is your tv just sticking out the back of the monitor box part? what do you have as a guard for the back of the tv. can you take a picture of the back of your cab?
pmailley:
I am using a 27" vga monitor in a steel cab. these monitors are used in bowling lanes for scoreboards, I will be happy to send you a picture of the back.
