pedestal cab
AX:
anyone have plans for building this type of cab? TIA
http://www.dreamauthentics.com/index_mega.htm
hulkster:
nope, there are NO plans for this cab. ive spent hours scouring the net trying to find some, but to no avail. im building one as well http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=16166 check out the Mamestrosity! ;D
but anyway, what i did was to search for "showcase arcade" and "showcase cab" and "atari showcase" (since some of the showcase cabs use 33" monitors has something to do with atari...go figure) but do a search for those and it should give you some examples. that dreamauthentics page is where i got my design from. mine will be similar in some regards but im mainly taking designs from all the pages ive found with pics of their showcase cabs, and just kinda judge to see what i wanted. ive never built a cab before so this was a big deal for me...however i just looked and kinda made up my own design. its really not as hard as a regular standup cab actually. anyway, look at the 3D feature of the mega cab on that page and rotate it to get an idea of what you want. ill be glad to give tips from what ive done so far and roadblocks that ive run into if you need it! just let me know! 8)

your CP is perfect. would you happen to have a layout or dimensions on it?
hulkster:
i dont have any plans per se, but what i did was take plans from TalkingOctopus's website (great cab by the way! and i hope you dont mind me doing this) http://webpages.charter.net/rbecker5/ for his cp, and just kinda use the measurements he gives. then i went to lusids site and printed off the little joystick and button layouts (but i think you can get them from talkingoct's site as well) and printed them out. four of them. and then i drew out what i wanted my panel to look like on the outside, then took the printouts and just kinda layed them on the mdf drawing and positioned them like i wanted them, putting the trackball in the very center so as to have something to measure by for the players on the outside. then i basically just played with that and moved everything around till i got something i liked. im at work right now,a nd i will be getting exact measurements soon for pixelhugger who is doing my cp art, so if you can, hold off till then. that maybe a couple of days or so though.

Actually, there ARE a set of plans, but it's a basic design. I've got 'em somewhere but I gotta run off somewhere and I'll try to post 'em later today. They take a bit of "WTF is THIS page for" the first time you look at them, but they're not bad.
After seeing them, you'll realize you can EASILY build one without a plan. The CP will be THE hardest thing to make. It's almost like making a desktop CP and slapping it onto a podium.
