Recapping Wells Gardner u2000, d805 transistor question
« on: September 10, 2020, 08:29:07 pm »
So, I decided to recap the monitor chassis that was rattling around in my cabinet when I got it.  At worst I've wasted $15 and a few hours. It still won't turn on, no neck glow, no nothing.

The transistor D805 shares holes with capacitor Q601 (positive lead and collector), and now I wonder if I accidently got the transistor in backwards when it came out.  But I can't read the markings to look up the pin out to know which pin the collector is.

Does anyone know from site if this looks right? Or know where to find the part number? Or just what it is?

Thanks!

D805 would be a diode, not a transistor. Transistor components start with Q. Capacitors with C.

Q601 is a 2N3904 with the following pinout:

I'm going by this schematic: https://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-monitors/U2000_25_27_inch%20schematic.pdf

I can't find D805 anywhere on the damn schematic but it doesn't look like the collector of Q601 shares a node with any diodes. It does share with with the positive lead of C620.

Thank you!

And also drat, because that means it's all hooked up the right way.

Since I've never seen this board work at all, would investigating it further still be worth it?  What would the next things to check be?
