Ok,
The simple principe of ArcadeVGA (
http://www.ultimarc.com) is enough clear to make it reliable for 15kHz monitors (whatever the OS), and it's a pleasure to see that some people find how to use such firmware capabilities under XFree86/Linux (see :
http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=14551 , and
http://asuaf.org/~dboyer/avga_w_linux/).
Nevertheless I'm quite surprise to see that the same approach is not tested with some other cards.
Typically such "Modelines" : "Modeline "800x570@52i" 14.37 800 832 880 912 570 583 586 599 interlace -hsync -vsync", works nearly perfectly with Ati All-in-wonder Pro card (very old version, I don't know for the newers) and Matrox MGA G200, and the picture on my hantarex 15kHz monitor is nearly perfect too.
Do you know where can I find a list of compliant XFree86 15kHz display graphical card ?
We can start such list, if it is not foundable anywhere else :
- ArcadeVGA : Yes
- Ati All-inWonder (RagePro based) : Yes
- Matrox MGA G200 : Yes
- NVidia Geforce 2 MX : No !
Thanks for your support,
Regards
